Do you use Facebook Carousel Ads?

If not, you could be missing out an excellent opportunity to lower your cost per lead.

According to Kinetic Social, these carousel ads can increase your traffic 10X to advertisers’ websites than static sponsored posts on Facebook. Moreover, LOVOO received a 72% higher click-through rate versus single image mobile app ads.

If you’re new to Facebook carousel ads, the format enables advertisers to show 3-5 images and headlines while including a different CTA link in every ad unit. Here’s what a carousel ad looks like:

By having more than one picture in your ad, carousel ads provides you a unique opportunity to tell a story around your brand and products. For example, you can explain the different benefits a healthy drink provides you by showing an ingredient in each slide.

When deciding on what media and copy to use for Facebook Carousel Ads, you have many options. You can use carousel ads to visualize data better, show an action taking place over time, or show multiple short videos.

Using carousel ads to show your product in action makes the benefit more tangible to the viewer.

For example, if you’re selling a bike, then create a carousel ad similar to a  flipbook where you see the biker make a crazy jump.

If you want to hit a more inspirational touch point, you could show how the product has evolved over time. For example, you could show the evolution of Nike shoes from the 1980’s up until now.

You can also use carousel ads to promote your blog content.

Precision Nutrition created a carousel link ad to share three articles from their website on healthy eating for athletes. The ad led to 6,000 new newsletter signups, and compared to single-image link ads, the carousel format delivered a 50% decrease in cost per lead and a 50% increase in clickthrough rate.” – Facebook Business

In another example, Deezer used carousel ads to show that The Beatles music was available in their app. The ad featured an image of the group spread across three cards and used the headline space on each card to announce they added Beatles music.

If you’d want to create an ad in the carousel format that showcases one long image similar to Deezer’s example, here’s how to do it:

  1. Decide how many carousel cards the image will cover (3-5 cards).
  2. Create an image with the height of 600 pixels and a width of 600 pixels multiplied by the number of carousel cards used (ex: a four-card image should be 2400×600 pixels).
  3. Before you upload the image, crop it by 600×600 for each card you’re using.

Keep in mind that Facebook has an option to show the best-performing images first your carousel. If you’re creating a long image across multiple cards, then don’t check this box.

There you have it. If you’re looking to experiment with Facebook ads or love storytelling, it’s worth giving carousel ads a try.
